UFC lightweight champion of Russia Islam Makhachev could fight against the Brazilian Charles Oliveira during the UFC tournament in Toronto on January 20, journalist Ariel Helwani reported.

After the news was published, the Russian’s manager Ali Abdel-Aziz denied this information on a social network.
– Fake news. Guys, don’t listen to people who don’t even have accreditation for UFC tournaments,” he wrote.
The rematch between Makhachev and Oliveira was supposed to headline the UFC 294 tournament in Abu Dhabi, but the Brazilian was injured and withdrew from the fight. In October 2022, the Russian defeated Oliveira early by submission and won the championship belt.
