Brazilian UFC fighter Charles Oliveira reacted to information about a possible rematch with a Russian Islam Makhachev .
The day before, the media reported that Oliveira’s fight with the current UFC lightweight champion could take place at a tournament in Toronto in January 2024. After the news was published, Makhachev’s manager, Ali Abdel-Aziz denied this information on social networks.
“I just heard about it myself.” People started writing questions and messages. I heard about it for the first time now. Maybe in January, who knows.
If it is Islam, how will the fight be different from the past? You will see the Charlie you always see! Who will always move forward, looking for a submission or knockout opportunity. I want to become a champion,” Oliveira said in an interview with ESPN MMA.
The rematch between Makhachev and Oliveira was supposed to headline the UFC 294 tournament in Abu Dhabi, but the Brazilian was injured and withdrew from the fight. In October 2022, the Russian defeated Oliveira early by submission and won the championship belt.
