American Terence Crawford will have no problem winning a potential fight with his compatriot Jermell Charlo. The former regular WBA welterweight champion shared this opinion with Rajab Butaev .
At the end of July, Crawford defeated American Errol Spence by technical knockout in the ninth round and became the undisputed welterweight champion. Previously, Crawford (40-0, KO 31) held every belt in the junior welterweight division. Crawford is the only boxer in history to be the undisputed champion in two weight classes during the four-belt era. Charlo holds the WBC, WBA, IBF junior middleweight belts. Previously, Charlo was stripped of the WBO belt, which currently belongs to Timofey Tszyu, who competes for Australia.
“There were no surprises for me (in the Crawford-Spence fight). In general, I had a hard time accepting Spence as champion. Knowing Crawford, this was the fight I expected. I think there is no need for a rematch between them. The ideal scenario for Crawford would be to move up in weight and beat Jermell Charlo. This fight will be the same as with Spence – no chance,” Butaev told .
On November 6 in Sochi, Butaev will fight at junior middleweight with 2016 Olympic champion Fazliddin Gaibnazarov of Uzbekistan. This tournament will be broadcast live on the channel, starting at 10:30 p.m. (Moscow time).
