The former world champion spoke about potential opponents
Former World Heavyweight Champion Andy Ruiz said that he would like to meet with Zhang Zhilei, Deontay Wilder or Anthony Joshua in 2024.
“I think Zhang did an amazing job. Joe Joyce looked like a robot in a fight with him. He just threw punches and didn’t even move. I think Zhang is a really good fighter and will be a good fight.”
“I lost to Zhilei in the selection for the 2008 Olympics by decision. I think I did very well, but they gave him the win.”
“When I fought the Joshua rematch, I wasn’t very good. I was overweight. Now it’s a completely different game. Of course I will go to fight Joshua.”
“But I don’t think they want the fight. I think Eddie Hearn doesn’t want Joshua to fight anyone good anymore.”
Ruiz last fought in September 2022. The former world champion defeated Luis Ortiz by unanimous decision.
The American said that he underwent surgery in the fall. Andy has returned to training and plans to fight in 2024.
