Athletistic/MMA. UFC President Dana White announced three major title fights in early 2024 on social media.

The current holder of the middle division championship belt, American Sean Strickland, will defend in a fight with Austrian Drikus du Plessis. This fight is scheduled for UFC 297 and will take place on January 20 in Toronto, Canada.

Another Australian, Alex Volkanovski, will move down to the featherweight division, where he will try to retain his championship title after the fight with Georgian Ilia Topuria. Their fight is expected to headline the UFC 298 tournament. The date and location have not yet been determined.

And American bantamweight Sean O’Malley will face Ecuador’s Marlon Vera at UFC 299.

It should be noted that this list does not include the Swedish-Arab fighter of Chechen origin Khamzat Chimaev. Previously, Dana White promised to give the athlete Chimaem a title fight if he managed to defeat Nigerian Kamaru Usman. As a result, Khamzat defeated Usman at UFC 294 in Abu Dhabi (UAE), but is yet to win a championship fight.
