According to the expert, big problems await the Ukrainian if he prefers close combat
Don CharlesBritish heavyweight trainer Daniel Duboisshared his thoughts on the chances of the WBA/WBO/IBF/IBO heavyweight title holder Alexandra Usika in a duel with the WBC heavyweight champion Tyson Fury.
“Usik is not a fighter. It will be difficult for him to brush off Fury. Ngannou did it with ease. Obviously, this confused Tyson, because he had previously easily overwhelmed opponents with his bulk. It immediately turned out that he was unable to do this.”
“Usyk is a boxer, not a wrestler like Ngannou. So he’ll be in big trouble when he tries to get too close. The best option for Usyk is to constantly move, strike, and never stay still.”
Let us remind you that on August 26 in Wroclaw, Usyk won by knockout over British heavyweight Daniel Dubois.
The Ukrainian champion is expected to fight his next fight against Tyson Fury, who experienced considerable problems in the fight with ex-UFC champion Francis Ngannou on the night of October 29. At the end of 10 rounds, two judges gave the victory to Fury, one to Ngannou. In the third round, Francis knocked down Tyson, but the Briton managed to return to the fight.
After the fight, promoter Frank Warren drew attention to the cut received by the “Gypsy King”, because of which it was “useless” to immediately schedule a unification fight. The promoter later suggested that it was almost certain that Fury and Usyk would fight in early 2024.
The Ukrainian’s promoter Alexander Krasyuk subsequently confirmed that the fight would not take place in 2023. It is expected that the final date may be announced during this week.
