Boxing coach Rinat Duseinov saved a young girl who was drowning in a river in the Saratov region, the press service of the Russian Boxing Federation reports.
The incident occurred on Monday in the village of Alexandrov Gai. Duseinov was returning home from a boxing tournament in memory of Hero of the Soviet Union Fyodor Glukhov. Crossing the Bolshoi Uzen River, the coach saw a young girl in the water who was clinging to the support of the bridge and could not climb. He took the young girl out, gave her first aid and waited with her for help.
— I thought it was an accident. It was late – 11 p.m. We shout to her, but she doesn’t answer. They thought: that’s it, he let himself be carried away by the current. We crossed to the other side and saw that she was still holding on to the bridge support, but she couldn’t climb – she was too high. Cries: “Help!” » There was nowhere to go: we undressed, entered the water and swam. Water +8º. They swam and saved the girl. They didn’t swim back, they pulled her onto the bridge support. It was difficult to climb there: you had to get up and force your way out. While we were waiting for the boat with the rescuers, we rubbed the girl and tried to warm her so that she wouldn’t freeze completely. Even if they themselves were frozen to the concrete. She cried, we calmed her down. She thought we were rescuers and said we calmed her down very professionally. Rescuers arrived within 15-20 minutes. They brought the girl to the shore, where an ambulance came to pick her up. Do I feel like a hero? No, I just did what I had to do,” Duseinov is quoted as saying by the press service of the Russian Boxing Federation.
