A Moscow court chose a preventive measure in the form of detention of former European boxing champion Nikita Ivanov, accused of hooliganism with the use of violence against citizens and weapons, reports the press service of the prosecutor’s office of the capital.
Ivanov did not admit his guilt. During the hearing, the accused asked not to be taken into custody and stated that he had no intention of hiding.
According to the prosecutor’s office, on the evening of Sunday, November 5, the suspect, while intoxicated near a restaurant on Shlyuzovaya embankment, hit two men several times, then shot with a gun at least six times in their direction and in the direction of two other men who were there.
Investigators opened a criminal case under the article “Hooliganism”.
Ivanov became European champion in the weight category up to 81 kg in 2013. The 37-year-old boxer also owns silver at the 2011 European Championship and the title of champion of Russia.
