Russian UFC lightweight champion Islam Makhachev thanked the Almighty after dominating the ranking of the promotion’s best fighters regardless of weight category (P4P).
On October 21, at the UFC 294 tournament in Abu Dhabi, the Russian knocked out Australian Alexander Volkanovski in the first round and defended the lightweight championship belt. After that, 32-year-old Makhachev moved from second place to first, ahead of American Jon Jones.
Former UFC lightweight champion Russian Khabib Nurmagomedov, commenting on Makhachev’s leadership in the P4P rankings, noted in a post on the social network that his compatriot “continues to write history.”
“Praise be to the Almighty for everything we have,” Makhachev wrote on the social network, sharing Khabib’s message.
