ONE Flyweight MMA Champion Fabricio Andrade lost to an Englishman Jonathan Haggerty in a fight for the premier bantamweight kickboxing belt. Haggerty became a champion in two sports: Muay Thai and kickboxing.
After the fight, Haggerty said he was now focused on cementing his status as a two-sport champion and intended to take the MMA belt from Andrade. ONE champion Anatoly Malykhin, who holds the heavyweight and light heavyweight belts, does not believe in Haggerty’s success. Here is how he commented on the British statement:

“I will say straight away that Haggerty has no chance in MMA, it’s a different world.
Andrade started the fight well and dominated the fight. However, in the second round, Haggerty delivered a heavy blow to the head that sent Andrade swimming, and the fight was soon stopped – Andrade received a knockout.
Anatoly Malykhin I’m sure Andrade lost due to fatigue from a long training camp:
— Fabricio trained every day, sometimes twice a day, sometimes three. He entered the fight in good shape. The only thing that could have affected him was the long camp. Fabricio barely rested, he had been in training for 5 to 6 months and could do a little “full” of training. This is the only thing, in my opinion, that could have influenced this fight.
Malykhin is sure that Andrade showed himself to be a real fighter, who is not afraid of serious challenges:
“He’s great, he tried his hand at a new sport.” He has never competed at a high level in kickboxing. Andrade showed courage. Or he could just stay in MMA, defend his belt and not take any risks. And he took a risk and put on a show. A lot of people watched this fight. Soon, Fabricio will prove that he is number one.
The fight between Andrade and Haggerty headlined the ONE Fight Night 16 tournament, which took place on November 4 in Bangkok.
