The American coach radically changed the forecast after the Fury-Ngannou fight
Famous trainer Robert Garcia criticized the WBC heavyweight champion Tyson Fury in the context of his imminent confrontation with the holder of the WBA/WBO/IBF/IBO titles Alexander Usik.
“Fury looked like crap. [против Нганну]. I think Usyk is punching him. He won’t touch Usik, I guarantee you.”
The American ex-boxer and coach, who previously prepared Anthony Joshua for his second fight with Usik, has significantly changed his opinion regarding the chances of the “Gypsy King” in the fight for the title of absolute champion.
Let us remember that in early October, Garcia assumed that Fury would eventually wear down the Ukrainian. But the Briton’s unconvincing performance against ex-UFC champion Francia Ngannou forced the specialist to change his mind.
Let us remind you that on the night of October 29, Fury defeated Ngannou and won the Riyadh champion title. The fight, according to boxing rules, lasted all the allotted 10 rounds, as a result of which two judges gave the victory to Fury, one to Ngannou. In the third round, Francis knocked down Tyson, but the Briton managed to return to the fight.
The fight between Usik and Fury was planned to be organized on December 23 (both the Ukrainian champion himself and his promoter Alexander Krasyuk insist on this date), but Tyson will not have time to prepare for this time after the fight with Francis Ngannou. It was reported that the Briton received two cuts in a fight with the former UFC champion.
Usyk and Fury are expected to enter the ring in February 2024. Note that the contract for the fight for the absolute heavyweight title contains a rematch clause.
