Russian UFC fighter Alexander Volkov told about his training while on vacation with his family in the United Arab Emirates.
Volkov, 35, had his last UFC fight on September 9 against Tai Tuivasa, winning by choke in the second round. Volkov currently lives and trains in Las Vegas with his wife and two children.
– Now you are out of season. How much do you weigh?
— Yes, I still weigh 120 kilos, even though I have been eating quite poorly in recent weeks. Let me explain: when I train, I follow a diet and I try to eat a lot to maintain my strength. And I gain muscle mass during training. And now, at 120, I’ve gained a little fat, a little not at all.
— When you go on vacation and try to work out, what does that look like in your daily routine?
— Now we were on vacation in the Emirates, there was a very strict regime during the vacation. Very difficult. We had to be there for breakfast at 8am. After breakfast we had to go to the beach. After the beach, there are other activities. It’s really difficult to train during such times. Since breakfast started at 8:00 or 8:20, I tried to train at seven in the morning. I got up a little early around 6:40 somewhere and went to training at 7:00. And I tried to train like that every day. I did some strength work to keep my muscles toned. You could say I was a little excited. In addition, there were some sporting activities and I kept myself in shape a little.
— Given your height, were you regularly recognized in the hotel gym?
— If we talk about the hotel where we were on vacation, then there, at least this time, I went down from the room to the beach and took photos about five times along the way. And it’s not a specific day, but almost every day. For lunch, dinner, breakfast, from the beach and to the beach. At the end of the vacation, everyone already knew I was there and heard about me. They might say, “We’re already looking for you everywhere. “I took photos several years in advance,” Volkov told .
