Wilder: We need to witness the fight between Usyk and Fury

Deontay had his last fight in October 2022

Former WBC world heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder commented on the upcoming unification fight for the title of absolute world champion between the WBC heavyweight title holder Tyson Fury and world champion WBO/WBA/IBF/IBO Alexander Usik.

“Any one of them can win. We just need to witness and see this battle. With God’s help, I can beat both Usyk and Fury,” Wilder said.

In August, the WBC Board of Governors rescinded its order for a mandatory title eliminator between Wilder and Ruiz.

Wilder was also in talks to fight Anthony Joshua. According to the British promoter Eddie Hearn, if this fight takes place, it will not be earlier than March-April 2024.

Deontay last fought in October 2022, knocking out Robert Helenius in the first round.

The fight between Usik and Fury was planned to be organized on December 23 (the Ukrainian champion and his promoter Alexander Krasyuk insisted on this date), but Tyson will not have time to prepare for this time after the fight with Francis Ngannou. It was reported that the Briton received two cuts in a fight with the former UFC champion.

Usyk and Fury are expected to enter the ring in February 2024. Note that the contract for the fight for the absolute heavyweight title contains a rematch clause.
