Russian Abdulkhalim Javatkhanov won the silver medal at the World Sambo Championships taking place in Yerevan.
In the decisive bout of combat sambo in the weight category up to 98 kg, the Russian athlete lost to the representative of Cameroon Seydou Njomulu with a score of 1:3.
Earlier, on the first day of the competition, Russian sambo wrestlers won four final bouts. Gold medals were received by: Sayan Khertek (up to 58 kg), Vladimir Leontyev (up to 64 kg), Zagid Gaidarov (up to 79 kg, in sambo combat) and Elmira Kahramanova (up to 54 kg).
The World Sambo Championships take place in Yerevan from November 10 to 12. Russian and Belarusian athletes participate in the tournament in neutral status.
