The ex-world champion noted that the “Gypsy King” himself fights in the Ukrainian style against heavyweights
Former world heavyweight champion Hasim Rahman stated that he considers the world champion according to WBO/WBA/IBF/IBO heavyweight Alexandra Usika favorite to fight with WBC belt holder Tyson Fury.
“I always bet on Usik in this fight, because it seems to me that Fury fights most heavyweights himself, like Alexander. He’s a better boxer, he moves faster, he throws more punches than these guys.”
“Most heavyweights are one-dimensional: they’re just trying to deliver a power bomb. Tyson can use his mobility, his weight, his athleticism against most heavyweights because they don’t use them. Usyk uses this athleticism, he has boxing skills.”
“Usyk can fight like a welterweight champion. Look at his resume. He has an amazing career: Olympic winner, undisputed cruiserweight world champion, unified heavyweight champion. It’s obvious he can take punches from the big guys. So I want to see this fight. In this fight, I give preference to Usyk.”
The fight between Usik and Fury was planned to be organized on December 23, but Tyson will not have time to prepare for this time after the fight with Francis Ngannou. It was reported that the Briton received two cuts in a fight with the former UFC champion.
Usyk and Fury are expected to enter the ring in February 2024. Note that the contract for the fight for the absolute heavyweight title contains a rematch clause.
