Russian MMA fighter Usman Nurmagomedov will be stripped of the Bellator lightweight title, BJPENN reports.
Earlier, it became known that Bellator lightweight champion Russian MMA fighter Usman Nurmagomedov was suspended for six months by the California State Athletic Commission (CSAC) after testing positive for a banned drug. This was reported by journalist Ariel Helwani, citing CSAC executive director Andy Foster.
According to him, the Russian tested positive after his fight with Brent Primus at the Bellator 300 tournament, which Nurmagomedov won by unanimous decision. After disqualification, this fight received the status of “did not take place”.
“Primus will now compete in the Bellator Lightweight Grand Prix, while Usman Nurmagomedov will be stripped of his lightweight title,” BJPENN reports.
Nurmagomedov is an undefeated fighter, he has 18 victories in 18 fights. In October, he rose to third place in Bellator’s pound-for-pound rankings.
