‘It wasn’t doping’ – Usman Nurmagomedov will not be stripped of Bellator title

Bellator Executive Director Mike Kogan said the Russian MMA fighter Usman Nurmagomedov will not be stripped of the championship title.

Earlier, it became known that Bellator lightweight champion Russian MMA fighter Usman Nurmagomedov was suspended for six months by the California State Athletic Commission (CSAC) after testing positive for a banned drug. This was reported by journalist Ariel Helwani, citing CSAC executive director Andy Foster.

According to him, the Russian tested positive after his fight with Brent Primus at the Bellator 300 tournament, which Nurmagomedov won by unanimous decision. After disqualification, this fight received the status of “did not take place”.

– It wasn’t doping. Nobody deprives him of any title. A rematch with Primus is the only thing that makes sense,” Kogan said on social media.

Nurmagomedov is an undefeated fighter, he has 18 victories in 18 fights. In October, he rose to third place in Bellator’s pound-for-pound rankings.
