Pavlovich said he wanted revenge on Aspinall

Russian fighter Sergei Pavlovich said he expects a rematch against the Briton Tom Aspinella after losing the UFC interim heavyweight title fight.

On Saturday at UFC 295 in New York, Aspinall knocked out Pavlovich in the first round to become the UFC interim heavyweight champion. This broke Pavlovich’s six-fight winning streak in the first round.

“I want revenge, maybe not right away, but my goal is to get revenge on Tom.” I’m young, I’m fine. My health is not damaged. Tom turned out to be faster, I wasn’t lucky to hit him right away, but he turned out to be more accurate. I decided to take a hit. I will be back in the cage soon, I want to be active and efficient to have a chance to fight for the belt again. This is my goal and we will achieve it,” Pavlovich wrote on the Telegram channel.

For the 31-year-old Russian, this defeat was the second of his career. He previously lost in his UFC debut in November 2018, when he lost to Dutch representative Alistair Overeem in the first round. All eight of Pavlovich’s UFC fights ended in the first round.
