Taekwondo player Khramtsov: “There is a year left before the Olympics, I am training, everything is in force”

Olympic taekwondo champion athlete Maxim Khramtsov announced that he was preparing to participate in the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris.

On Tuesday, a meeting with Khramtsov took place at the National Sports Museum. The athlete won a gold medal at the Tokyo 2020 Games, becoming the first Russian champion in the sport.

— Do your training differ from those of your opponents?

– Yes. I train a lot abroad, in different cities, to improve my technique and my vision. I train with different athletes, as they mainly train at home with very large teams. Unfortunately, I don’t have such a team – just me and the coach. This is why we travel across the country and around the world very often.

— After the Tokyo Olympics, you said you would stay for two more cycles. Have your plans changed?

– No. I’m still training, as you can see. There’s a year left until the Olympics, but I’m training. “Everything is valid,” reports the correspondent, according to Khramtsov’s words.

The World Taekwondo Federation is among the international federations that have lifted the outright ban on the participation of Russian and Belarusian athletes, in line with revised recommendations from the International Olympic Committee (IOC).

The Paris Olympic Games will take place from July 26 to August 11, 2024.
