The fight between Haney and Prograis will take place on the named date.
Egor Golubtrainer of WBO International lightweight champion Denis Berinchikexpressed hope that a title fight could soon be organized for his ward.
“We are waiting for the date, negotiations are underway and we will begin to prepare. We are waiting for December 9th. God willing, there will be a title fight,” Golub emphasized.
Let us remind you that on December 9, the absolute world lightweight champion Devin Haney will fight for the WBC junior welterweight title against Regis Prograis. Haney relinquished his belts but retained the option to return to the division at a later date.
In September, Golub already spoke about plans to arrange a title fight for Berinchyk and mentioned the name of Isaac Cruz.
Subsequently, Ukrainian promoter Alexander Krasyuk stated that he had asked the WBO president to nominate Berinchyk as a mandatory challenger.
Berinchyk had his last fight in August on the undercard of the Oleksandr Usyk-Daniel Dubois fight. Denis defeated Swede Anthony Yigit by unanimous decision and defended his WBO International title.
