Shakur became world champion in his third weight category
Former world featherweight and super featherweight champion Shakur Stevenson (21-0, 10 KOs) defeated Edwina De Los Santos (16-2, 14 KOs) and won the vacant title WBC in lightweight.
The fight was an even fight. Both boxers were cautious, fearing counterattacks from their opponents. Stevenson received a warning in one of the rounds for striking against the rules, after which the fight continued.
As a result, the fight lasted all 12 rounds. All three judges gave a slight advantage to Shakur – 116:112, 116:112 and 115:113.
Stevenson won the championship title in his third weight category. Let us remind you that the WBC belt became vacant after the undisputed lightweight champion Devin Haney decided to fight Regis Prograis in the junior welterweight division.
