Mayweather announces re-fight against Gotti

The event is scheduled for February 2024

Former world champion in five divisions Floyd Mayweather announced a repeat exhibition fight against John Gotti IIIgrandson of the late boss of the famous Gambino mafia family John Gotti.

The fight is scheduled for Super Bowl weekend in Las Vegas. The decisive match for the NFL title will take place on February 11, 2024.

Let us remind you that in June 2023, the fight between Mayweather and Gotti in Sunrise (Florida) ended in a mass brawl. The referee stopped the match in the sixth round, recording Mayweather’s victory. After the fight was stopped, Gotti began punching Mayweather. Representatives of both boxers took part in the fight and ran into the ring.

As a result of the scandalous event, John Gotti III received a six-month disqualification, while his opponent avoided sanctions.

Gotti III previously competed in MMA. His professional record is 5-1. In October 2022, John made his boxing debut. In the professional ring, he won two victories, one of them by knockout.

In February, Mayweather fought his first exhibition fight in the UK. Floyd easily outboxed ex-MMA fighter Aaron Chalmers, holding the advantage throughout all 8 rounds. However, the official winner of the fight was never announced.

In 2022, Mayweather had three exhibition fights. Floyd knocked out Japanese MMA fighter Mikura Asakura, defeated YouTuber Deji Olatunji early and went all eight rounds with his former sparring partner Don Moore.
