Athletistic/Figure skating. Russian Bellator fighter Alexander Shabliy has expressed his opinion regarding the doping scandal involving Bellator lightweight world champion Usman Nurmagomedov.

Nurmagomedov was recently suspended for six months due to an anti-doping rule violation involving the use of a prescription drug without prior notification to regulatory authorities.

“I believe that as long as the champion is suspended, the title must be decided in our fight with Patrick Freire. We both maintain weight classes for each fight and there is no real champion at this time due to the investigation. It would be great if our fight was for the title. Of course, at the Grand Prix Final there should be a real fight for the championship belt. But there is currently no champion, and the belt must remain within the Grand Prix. Therefore, I propose to make our fight a title fight,” Shabliy said, as quoted by the MMA Junkie portal.

This Saturday, November 18, in Chicago (USA), Alexander Shabliy will face Brazilian fighter Patrick Freire in the semi-final of the Bellator Grand Prix.

  • Disqualified Usman Nurmagomedov could retain Bellator title
