Patricio Freire will not be able to participate in the upcoming Bellator 283. The Brazilian was injured and forced to withdraw from the title fight against American Sidney Outlaw. In this fight announced as the main event of the tournament, Freire was to defend the promotion champion’s belt.
Freire at the tournament will be replaced by Azerbaijani representative Tofik Musaev, but the fight itself will lose main fight status.
The fight will be Musaev’s debut after signing with the promotion in early 2022. He was scheduled to fight Zack Zane in April, but the fight was canceled when his opponent pulled out. Musaev defeated Freire in a duel in the RIZIN promotion in December 2019.
