Shabliy won by unanimous decision. This allowed him to reach the final of the Bellator Lightweight Grand Prix.
Alexander Shabliy won his fifth consecutive victory. In total, the 30-year-old native of Rostov-on-Don has 26 fights in mixed martial arts, 23 victories and three failures. But Patricky Freire could not extend the success of the last fight with Roberto de Souza and suffered the 12th defeat in his MMA career. He also has 25 victories.
In the Grand Prix final, Shabliya’s opponent is expected to be another Russian, Usman Nurmagomedov. However, he risks a six-month suspension due to doping problems.
