Usik: The main battle for me and the Ukrainians is the fight against the enemy who attacked our country

The world champion said that with his performances he is trying to help Ukrainian soldiers

WBO/WBA/IBF/IBO heavyweight title holder Alexander Usik said that he considered the most difficult battle for himself to be the struggle of the Ukrainian people against the Russian occupiers.

“Will the fight with Fury be the hardest of my career? No. Why? We haven’t boxed yet. It’s just a sport, it’s boxing. Now we, Ukrainians and me personally, have the hardest battle – the fight against the enemy who attacked our country.”

“I fight because this way I help the guys who protect our country. There is no need to focus on what you do not own, what you cannot control. You need to focus on what you can be the best at.”

Usik is an ambassador of the UNITED24 platform, created on the initiative of the President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky for financial assistance to the Armed Forces of Ukraine, civilians, as well as for the restoration of Ukraine from the consequences of Russian military aggression.

The Ukrainian boxer organized a charity evening while defending his championship titles against Briton Daniel Dubois. The event helped the UNITED24 platform raise 1 million hryvnia for the restoration of Ukraine.

The Ukrainian will fight his next fight with WBC champion Tyson Fury. The Usik-Fury fight for the title of absolute heavyweight champion will officially take place on February 17 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
