Minister of Sports of the Russian Federation Oleg Matytsin said he was grateful to his Chinese colleagues for their help in the development of wushu in Russia.
On Saturday, the All-Russian Wushu Tournament “Connection of Generations” opened in Moscow.
— What place does Wushu occupy in Russia and what is the country’s place in this type of martial arts?
– I think it’s a philosophical question. We are all members of one big family. As Xi Jinping said: “We live in a big village.” We are all responsible for peace; sport is an integral part of state politics. We are grateful that Putin and Xi Jinping pay such attention to sports in our countries. The Wushu community and the Commonwealth are growing, many people are involved. Thanks to our Chinese colleagues for their help and assistance in the development of this sport. Our athletes studied and competed there. We are responsible for a common cause, wushu is part of our common world,” reports the correspondent, according to Matytsin’s words.
