The fight between Usik and Fury for the title of absolute heavyweight champion will take place on February 17
Head of the promotion company Top Rank Bob Arum commented on the upcoming unification fight for the title of absolute heavyweight champion between the world champion according to WBO/WBA/IBF/IBO Alexander Usik and WBC belt holder Tyson Fury.
“Fury’s fight with Usyk will be completely different than Tyson’s fight with Ngannou. I think that Tyson will be much better prepared for the fight with Usyk than for Ngannou.”
“I have a lot of confidence in Tyson Fury. He is a great boxer and will be in better shape against Usyk. I really believe that Fury vs Usyk will be a classic fight.”
The Usik-Fury fight for the title of absolute heavyweight champion will officially take place on February 17 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Initially, the event was planned to be organized on December 23. However, it later became clear that the “Gypsy King” would not have time to prepare for this time after the fight with Francis Ngannou at the end of October.
Fury defeated Ngannou via split decision. It was reported that the Briton received two cuts in a fight with the former UFC champion.
Usik fought his last fight on August 27 in Wroclaw, Poland. The Ukrainian knocked out Daniel Dubois in the 9th round and defended his championship titles.
