Joshua: Who the hell is Wilder? He’s a boxer, not a psychologist

AJ responded to Deontay’s harsh remarks about him

Former world champion Anthony Joshua responded sharply to another ex-champion Deontay Wilder to criticism addressed to you.

“Who the hell is Wilder? He’s a boxer, not a psychologist. Otto [Валлин] says I’m past my peak, Wilder says I’ve lost my identity… Wallin never saw a peak, so who is he to say what a peak is?

“Wilder… I was completely dedicated to my work, I was a two-time world champion, defended the title, fought with a certain number of world champions.”

“This guy had 50 fights, and he probably fought Jason Gavern in about his thirtieth fight, and I probably fought him in my 12th fight or something.”

“I never took a year off, never had too much free time, I took advantage of every opportunity, I fought back-to-back world champions, defended my titles. I’m a different breed. Who am I to compare myself to others? I am a different breed.”

“If they are looking for weaknesses and gaps, then they need to stop looking at me, because I am complete. I don’t know what he’s talking about, to be honest.”

According to a fresh statement from promoter Eddie Hearn, the long-awaited fight between Joshua and Wilder could take place in the spring of 2024 in Saudi Arabia.

In August, the WBC Board of Governors rescinded its order for a mandatory title eliminator between Wilder and Andy Ruiz.

Wilder and Joshua have been in talks for a long time about a fight in December. The British promoter Eddie Hearn announced problems with the place and date of the fight, after which he suggested that the event could be held no earlier than March-April 2024.

Deontay Wilder and Anthony Joshua will hold a joint boxing evening on December 23 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Deontay will fight Joseph Parker, and AJ will fight Swedish heavyweight Otto Wallin. The event is expected to bring closer the conclusion of a contract for the fight between the two former champions.

Joshua knocked out Robert Helenius in his last fight, which took place on August 12 in London. Wilder’s last opponent was also Helenius – the American won by knockout in the first round.
