MMA fighter of Chechen origin Khamzat Chimaev said the head of the Chechen Republic, Ramzan Kadyrov, helped him “come back to life”.
“This man helped me get my life back, not just for me and for all the Chechen people. “I would like to thank him for everything he did and is doing for us and our people,” Chimaev wrote on his social media page.
Chimaev competes in the UFC in two weight categories: up to 77 and up to 84 kg. Currently, the 29-year-old fighter represents the United Arab Emirates; he has previously competed under the Swedish flag.
