The head coach of the Russian men’s team, Viktor Farkhutdinov, said that the current composition of the youth boxing team is very promising.
The Russian team won first place in the team competition of the European Youth Championship in Budva (Montenegro). In total, the Russian team has 18 medals. The women’s team won eight medals – four gold and four silver, while the men’s team won five gold, four silver and one bronze. The Polish team took second place in the medal standings, Italy third.
“It was not very easy in such a difficult period, but they showed a decent result. The men’s and women’s teams won first place. The guys fought under the anthem and flag of our country. I brought all the guys – they know the anthem, they sing, they hold the flag.
Thanks to our dear country Russia, Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin, Tatiana Anatolyevna Kiriyenko, everyone who is nearby and helps us.
— Did anyone surprise you on the men’s team?
— The team is very good, just a bomb. All the guys help each other. I think that 70% of this group of 19-20 year olds will participate in the World Friendship Games and the 2024 European Championship,” reports correspondent Farkhutdinov.
The European Youth Boxing Championship took place in Montenegro from November 12 to 19. Russian athletes competed under their own flag and their own anthem.
