Khalilov, Amirzhanov, Satiev – three Russians won the ONE Friday Fights 41 tournament

Talented Muay Thai hopefuls and stars had plenty of highlights at ONE Friday Fights 41. Three of the four Russian fighters entered in the ONE event were victorious.

TAGIR KHALILOV (Muay Thai)

Tagir Khalilov defeated Yodlekpet Or Atchariya in a Muay Thai fight at 136 pounds.

At the beginning of the fight, Yodlekpet kept Khalilov at bay with powerful kicks, but the Russian coped with his task and began using heavy combinations at the end of the round.

In the second round, Khalilov, with renewed vigor, rushed in pursuit of a knockout. Although he was able to take shortcuts to land more punches, Yodlekpet responded with his own combinations of kicks and punches.

In the third round, the Thai went on the attack, but Khalilov, who moved well, escaped the blows. He finished the round with a seven-punch combination and earned recognition from two of the three judges in the ring. Khalilov won the fight by split decision.

Ruslan Satiev (MMA)

In an MMA fight at ONE Flyweight (61.2 kg), Ruslan Satiev demonstrated a powerful grappling technique, fending off a tough challenge from ONE debutant Farid Alibabazade of Azerbaijan.

Over the course of three rounds, the Russian athlete pinned his opponent to the canvas, using various chokes, punches and kicks, trying to gain the upper hand. After a brief exchange of punches, Satiev used fists, elbows and knees in the clinch, attempting a takedown. In the third round, Alibabazadeh got up and attempted a submission late in the round, but it ultimately wasn’t enough for the Azerbaijani star.

Two of the three judges awarded the victory to Satiev, who, thanks to such a successful debut, improved his overall record to 5-0.

GAJIMURAD AMIRZHANOV (MMA)

Gadzhimurad Amirzhanov opened the tournament with a TKO victory over Mortez Naruzi in the second round of a welterweight bout.

From the beginning, Naruzi strived for a tough fight and tried to fight on his feet with the Russian opponent. But Amirzhanov did not lose patience and parried the Iranian’s blows with timely takedowns, which allowed him to control the first round.

In the second round, the scenario instantly changed when a visibly tired Naruzi took advantage of Amirzhanov’s failure and scored a takedown himself. But his impatience allowed Amirzhanov to perform a perfect kimura and turn his opponent onto his back. The 27-year-old fighter then took advantage of his cross position and began throwing elbows, which led to the fight being stopped at 3:25 of the second round. The win moved Amirzhanov to 2-0 in ONE, and his career total now stands at 5-0.

— Naruzi is a good opponent, similar to the previous one. I didn’t see that I had anything to fear. Before the fight, I said that you would see a replay of the previous fight – and that’s what happened,” Amirzhanov said, as quoted by ONE. “I feel good after the fight and I’m ready to face any opponent the league throws at me.” I always plan ahead and consider myself the ONLY champion – that’s the most important thing.

The card featured 12 intense fights in Muay Thai, MMA and kickboxing. Each of the fighters in the ONE Friday Fights series tries to perform in the most memorable way possible in order to receive the coveted contract with ONE worth $100,000. The contract was awarded to Thai fighter Songchainoi after he beat compatriot Rak.
