Unexpectedly complimentary statement from the “Gypsy King” to his opponent
WBC title holder Tyson Fury spoke about the dimensions of the world champion according to WBO/WBA/IBF/IBO versions Alexandra Usikaadmitting that his future opponent in the fight for the title of absolute champion is not a “little man.”
“He’s a boxer, a good fighter. Great. Nothing to add here. But I’ll do what I have to do. Looking at him, I don’t think he’s that small. Of course, Usik is wearing heels, but he is probably 190 cm, which is not so small. This is not a small man by any stretch of the imagination. Even though he’s smaller than me.”
“He has the usual size for a heavyweight – 190 centimeters. This is fine. I’ve fought a lot of fighters his size before. There were a lot of them.”
Previously, Fury repeatedly tried to tease the Ukrainian with statements about his “small” size in comparison with himself. Alexander responded to Tyson: “For you, I am a small man, but I am a big champion.”
The Usik-Fury fight for the title of absolute heavyweight champion will officially take place on February 17 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
Initially, the fight between Usik and Fury was planned to be organized on December 23 in Riyadh. However, it later became clear that the “Gypsy King” would not have time to prepare for this time after the fight with Francis Ngannou at the end of October.
Fury defeated Ngannou via split decision. It was reported that the Briton received two cuts in a fight with the former UFC champion.
Usik fought his last fight on August 27 in Wroclaw, Poland. The Ukrainian knocked out Daniel Dubois in the 9th round and defended his championship titles.
