European judo champion Daria Kurbonmamadova explained why she has no plans to compete in MMA.
— Mixed martial arts is a brutal sport. I just don’t want to get punched in the face (laughs). And there, it’s impossible to avoid it, even if you are the undisputed champion. And when you’re 29 and need to become a mother, you have no desire to heal from such trauma. When I was still very young, I probably would have tried. But now I am not ready, although I really like watching MMA tournaments,” Kurbonmamadova said, as quoted by RT.
At the 2023 European Championships in France, Kurbonmamadova, who previously competed under the name Mezhetskaya, won gold in the weight category up to 57 kg.
