Athletistic/MMA. Russian MMA fighter Venus “Bashkir” Galiev is two years shy of his 50th birthday, but he still maintains a very active fight schedule.

Galiev, 48, has a professional record of 34-13 and is also a former amateur wrestler. Organizes national and international Russian sambo combat championships. In addition to the fact that Galiev is a master of sport in sambo and Greco-Roman wrestling, he is also an international master of sport in unifight.

Competing primarily in Russia, Galiev recently picked up an impressive win over UFC veteran Levan Makashvili. Showing no signs of slowing down, “Bashkir” now has another fight scheduled for December 12 under the Absolute Championship Akhmat banner.

In addition to Makashvili, Galiev has fought other famous fighters such as Diego Brandao, Ryan Healy, Rustam Khabilov and Alexander Shlemenko. Since Galiev made his professional MMA debut in February 2004, the Russian has just over a month left to reach 20 years in his career.

Contrary to what some might think of the 48-year-old MMA fighter, Vener Galiev doesn’t just fight for money and doesn’t show the slightest trace of old age in his movements and fighting style.

Galiev didn’t make his professional MMA debut until he was 29, having spent most of his career in Greco-Roman wrestling or combat sambo. However, as many UFC fans can attest, both styles lend themselves very well to MMA.

Not only does Galiev display elite athleticism regardless of age, but he is also a workhorse in the weight room. Training at the RusFighters MMA gym, the veteran lightweight has never competed for a major MMA promotion, but has primarily competed for Fight Nights Global and M-1.

Galiev’s next opponent, Hakran Diaz, is also a UFC veteran who competes for Team Nova Uniao.
