Hearn: I hope the Joshua-Wilder fight will take place in March

The promoter also admitted how the AJ vs. Wallin fight was organized, and what alternatives he had

Promoter Eddie Hearnrepresenting the interests of the former world heavyweight champion Anthony Joshuasuggested that the long-awaited fight of his ward against the ex-champion Deontay Wilder could take place in early spring 2024.

“We actually had six weeks when we got a call from Saudi Arabia and they said: Do you want a fight on the card? Otto Wallin is a contender. And at the same time, we were offered fights with Bivol and Opetaia, and AJ was ready for it.”

“He wanted to fight three times this year. Wilder is next – both win and the fight is inevitable. We went from a situation where the fight for January was almost agreed upon to a lack of agreement. But now we are fighting in December and hopefully we will be successful in March.”

Previously, the promoter said that Wilder’s team approached Joshua’s representatives with a proposal for a fight, but never sent a contract for the fight.

Deontay Wilder and Anthony Joshua will hold a joint boxing evening on December 23 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Deontay will fight Joseph Parker, and AJ will fight Swedish heavyweight Otto Wallin. The event is expected to bring closer the conclusion of a contract for the fight between the two former champions.

At the same time, according to Hearn, the contract for Anthony’s fight with the Swedish boxer includes a rematch option.
