The fight is scheduled to take place in Perth, Australia on April 14, 2024.
Former undisputed world lightweight champion George Kambosos said that his team is close to concluding a deal for a fight with the former champion in three weight categories Vasily Lomachenko.
“It’s exciting and great that there is so much interest in such a mega fight between me and Loma. We are close to finalizing the deal for the event, Perth is the preferred location for the event, but Sydney and Adelaide are now showing strong interest and may also make a bid. Wherever this championship fight takes place, it will be a sold-out and spectacular battle between two warriors.”
The fight is planned to be organized on April 14. Presumably, the fight will take place for the vacant IBF lightweight belt. The title will become vacant after undisputed champion Devin Haney fights Regis Prograis in the junior welterweight division on December 9th.
Lomachenko fought his last fight in May 2023, losing to Devin Haney in the fight for the title of absolute world champion. After the defeat, Vasily decided to take a vacation until the end of the year.
In his last fight, Kambosos defeated Briton Maxie Hughes to win the IBO lightweight title. George also became number two in the IBF rankings. Third on the list according to this version in lightweight is Lomachenko.
