The American is ready to test himself in a fight with a boxing legend
WBO world junior welterweight champion Teofimo Lopez aims to fight the holder of the WBO, WBA and WBC welterweight belts Terence Crawford.
“Who do I want to fight? Crawford. My fight against Crawford. If he agrees, of course. I love challenges. How else can I become great? It all depends on Crawford’s team. My father wants this fight. I’m ready to test myself. I like it. With Crawford, I will have to learn something new,” Teofimo said.
Previously, Teofimo rejected the offer of a fight with Ryan Garcia due to the low fee. According to Teofimo, the fight was planned to take place in early 2024.
In his last fight, Lopez defeated Briton Josh Taylor. Following the results of 12 rounds, the judges unanimously awarded the victory to the American – 115:113, 115:113 117:111.
In July, Crawford defeated Errol Spence to become the undisputed welterweight champion of the world. At the end of the summer, Spence activated the rematch option, which is scheduled for February 2024.
In November, the IBF stripped Crawford of his title for failing to comply with his obligation to defend the belt against designated challenger Jaron Ennis.
