At ONE Fight Night 18 Shamil Gasanov (13-1) will meet Korean fighter Oh Ho Taek (9-3). The fight will take place in the ONE featherweight division (70.3 kg) in Bangkok in the early morning of January 13 (Moscow time).
Gasanov is a former ProFC champion, world grappling champion and two-time European champion. In ONE Championship, he fought two fights, earning one victory and one defeat. Gasanov made his debut in Asia’s biggest league, ONE Championship, in October 2022, defeating Kim Jai Wung by first-round submission. In the second fight against ADCC champion Harry Tonnen, Gasanov suffered the first defeat in his professional career – the American defeated a representative of the Peresvet gymnasium by submission in the second round.
Oh Ho Taek, 30, like Gasanov, fought two fights in ONE – he won the first by decision and lost the second to Akbar Abdullaev of Kyrgyzstan by technical knockout. The strength of the South Korean fighter is grappling, which is why he received the nickname Spider.
For his love of choking techniques, Gasanov was given the fighting name “Cobra”. Most likely, in this fight, spectators will expect a tense fight on the ground. Both athletes were on long winning streaks before their previous fights and will look to bounce back from their defeat.
