“I didn’t see any contact when I fell.” Judoka Misirov on the bronze medal in the Continental League final

Ismail Misirov told that he missed the target in the semi-final match of the Continental Judo League final.

On Saturday, the final of the Continental Judo League took place at the International Sambo Center in Moscow. The bronze medal was won by the Lokomotiv Grinn-Hill team from Nalchik. Misirov represented the team in the weight category up to 66 kg. In the semi-final he lost to Yakub Shamilov (Akhmat, Grozny).

– Thank you for your congratulations. A little controversial point: did I fall or not? I looked again and saw no contact except that I touched it with my hair, but there was no direct contact. But it’s like that. The movement was appreciated, the decision is irreversible. It’s a team tournament, even if you lose, you can win at the expense of other players. But that is not our option in this case. It almost didn’t work for us. We finished third, which was also a good thing.

—Is it embarrassing to fight in a team tournament?

– I wouldn’t say it’s embarrassing. But to some extent there is more responsibility here. You don’t fight for yourself, but for the team. There is a different atmosphere here. I like playing team tournaments, the collective spirit is attractive. I didn’t think the stands would be full today. It’s nice, it means that the public is interested in watching judo. It’s just inspiring.

— When is your next departure?

— I will not participate in the Russian Cup, we will have a training camp. There is a precise work plan that we must carry out. After this camp, there will be international tournaments. I don’t know where they will be yet, but I will definitely fight.

— Did you follow the Grand Slam stage in Tokyo?

– I followed, of course. Due to time zones, I only watched the last block. We had the night where they held preliminary meetings. This tournament is very competitive, four Japanese can compete here, it makes the competition stronger. Our guys fought and wanted to win. There are medals, I am happy for the guys, I congratulate them,” Misirov told .
