Monson in Russian confessed his love for Russia

Mixed martial arts (MMA) fighter Jeff Monson in an interview with in Russian, he said how much he loves Russia.

– I don’t speak Russian very well. I love Russia, it’s a big and very beautiful country. Why do I love Russia? Lenin. People. In Russia, people have a soul. I travel, I meet people, I feel their soul,” Monson said.

In English, he also clarified what he meant when he said he felt like a Russian person.

– Difficult to explain. I was born in the United States, lived there for a long time, then moved to England, where I spent two years, then found myself back in America. Then he came to Russia. The people here are like family to me. When I walk with my daughter, I meet people, I feel a unity (with them). I had never experienced this before in my life. Not just because I’m Jeff Monson. When you see people two or three times, they invite you into their family and become friends forever. I like it. I am interested in politics, respect communism, socialism. I feel at home here,” the fighter added.

Monson in August in Moscow is expected to fight Russian Vyacheslav Datsik.

— I train six days a week with a training partner in Ufa. On different days we do boxing, wrestling, barbell,” Monson said.

Born in the United States, Monson obtained Russian citizenship in 2018. During his MMA career, the 51-year-old fighter has had 60 wins, 26 losses and one fight ended in a draw. In 2018 he was a member of the district council of the city of Krasnogorsk of the Moscow region.
