Athletistic/MMA. Former UFC champion in two weight classes, Irish fighter Conor McGregor has explained why he should become the next president of Ireland.

“My potential competitors if I run for president are Gerry, 78, Bertie, 75, and Enda, 74. Each of them is inextricably linked to the policies of their party – regardless of outside public opinion. Their parties only govern themselves, not the people.

On the other side, there is me. I am now 35 years old, I am young, active, passionate, I have new blood in this sport. I listen, I support, I adapt. I have no political affiliation, bias or favoritism. And these people would indeed be held responsible for their current influence on public opinion. I would even put that to a vote. I will make them every week.

I can finance. But it would not be me who would be in power as president, but the Irish people. It would be me and you,” McGregor wrote on his social media page.

On July 10, 2021, the UFC 264 mixed martial arts tournament took place in Las Vegas (USA), in the main fight of which Conor McGregor and Dustin Poirier fought. Poirier won in the first round after McGregor broke his leg. Since then, the Irishman has continued to recover from his injury. In total, the 35-year-old Irishman has 28 MMA fights: he has won 22 victories and suffered six defeats.
