Athletistic/ Boxing. John Fury, the father of the current WBC heavyweight world champion Tyson Fury, assessed his son’s chances in a fight with Ukrainian Alexander Usik. Fury Sr. did not rule out the possibility of the Ukrainian winning this fight.
“Tyson doesn’t care about the absolute championship? Well, if he doesn’t care about the absolute championship, then why is he fighting? For the money? My son is not like that. He in record, but otherwise, I wish Usik good luck. If he doesn’t care and if he goes out without thinking about titles, then the Ukrainian is lucky. Then I will be one of those who say that he has been beaten if it really happens.
If the son turns his head, then Usik is not the person who can surpass him. People think I know what’s going on at training camp, but that’s not true at all. I have nothing to do with it. They don’t listen to dad over there. I know what to do for this fight, but they could go a completely different route.
Fury will have to prepare differently: build his muscles, put in a little effort and remember he has balls. Only then will Usyk be in trouble. He won’t come into this Tyson with a bad fight plan. I’ll be the first to say it: whoever does the best job in training camp will get a well-deserved victory. If Usik surpasses the best fighter in the heavy division – Tyson – then it will mean that he did everything right and the best possible won in this confrontation. It all depends on each other, and also on what exactly they want. Tyson needs a 180-degree turn: if he’s not ready, then I wish Usik good luck,” The Hook quoted Fury Sr as saying.
On November 16, it became known that the unification fight between Alexander Usik and Tyson Fury will take place on February 17, 2024 in Riyadh (Saudi Arabia). Initially, their fight was scheduled to take place on December 23, 2023, but after a tough victory over Ngannou, the British team announced that Tyson would not be ready to fight the Ukrainian in December.
