“We are ready for victory at Lazaro Alvarez and we will win it” – Batyrgaziev

Russian boxer Albert Batyrgaziev admitted that he had no doubts about his victory over the Cuban Lazaro Álvarez.

Batyrgaziev and Alvarez will challenge for the first-ever IBA championship belt on December 9 in Dubai at the IBA Night of Champions tournament. The fight weighing up to 60 kg is designed for 10 rounds. The 2020 Olympic champion Batyrgaziev has 10 victories in the professional ring. Alvarez, a multiple Olympic medalist and three-time world champion, has six professional victories to his name.

— A big event is preparing. The IBA has created a serious league and it is a great honor for me to be the first to challenge for the championship belt. And I will not miss this opportunity. I am completely focused. We are ready to win and we will take it. Lazaro Alvarez deserves respect, look at his Olympic boxing credentials, and he’s always in the mix. He and I are going to show a good and entertaining fight. Don’t miss it,” reports correspondent, reporting Batyrgaziev’s words.

Batyrgaziev and Alvarez met three times in Olympic boxing, and the score of their confrontation was in favor of the Cuban. Alvarez emerged victorious in a match-match in 2018 and the quarterfinals of the 2019 World Championship, and Batyrgaziev beat a Cuban boxer in the semifinals of the 2020 Games.

The “IBA Champions Night” tournament will be broadcast live on the channel, starting December 9 at 10:00 p.m. Moscow time.
