The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) will announce its decision on the appeal of the International Boxing Association (IBA) to the International Olympic Committee (CIO ) in 2024, reported website IBA.
In June, the IOC, following a vote, announced the derecognition of the IBA. In 2019, the IOC temporarily withdrew the recognition status of the IBA for economic reasons and due to a management crisis within the organization, and also presented demands for reforms. In mid-June, the IBA appealed this decision to the CAS and asked the court to suspend the IOC’s recommendations until the court’s final verdict.
— The IBA Board of Directors received an update on its CAS appeal against the IOC decision following a hearing on November 16, 2023. The court’s decision is expected in 2024, says the press release.
In 2023, the IBA allowed Russian and Belarusian athletes to participate in international competitions displaying national symbols, contrary to IOC recommendations.
