After a streak of three consecutive defeats, Jessica Andrade celebrates victory and projects 2024 with a possible ‘title-shot’ and participation in UFC 300
The year of Jessica’pile driver‘ Andrade, former UFC flyweight champion, had many ups and downs, but ended with great relief. Despite the resounding victory against Lauren Murphy encourage the Brazilian at the beginning of 2023, the three negative results in a row diminished the confidence of a return to the title-shot. Even so, after a great knockout to say goodbye to the year, the fighter spoke exclusively to Athletistic about animation for 2024.
“It was very intriguing for me, because I had never had three defeats in a row in my career. I was very worried, aware that the UFC could send me away if I lost another one, even though I already have a history in the organization. I knew I needed to put up a good fight, that I had to be very prepared. And that’s what I did. I prepared myself a lot psychologically and, even so, I think controlling this tension was the most difficult thing, but everything worked out well.“, said Jéssica about the consecutive defeats and preparation for the fight against Mackenzie Dern.

Furthermore, the UFC veteran also planned her next steps in the octagon for 2024. Despite seeing her manager wanting to schedule a fight in the first events of the year, Jéssica and her master agreed to wait a little longer and aim for an appearance at UFC 300, in April, or in Rio de Janeiro, which should take place in May.
“Within the 57 kg category, perhaps it is Manon Fiorot [a adversária], which was supposed to happen, but I couldn’t fight due to my herniated disc. I’m waiting and I believe it will be between April and May. I really wanted to fight at UFC 300, who knows, maybe I’ll have an opportunity. It’s definitely going to be one of the best cards of the year, and I hope to be there. In May there will also be an edition in Rio, so I’m more or less between the two. I’ll wait for what the UFC gives me“, added the Brazilian.
It is worth remembering that Jéssica Andrade has already been in the UFC for over ten years, accumulating records each year, such as the first to achieve victories in three different categories, and more knockdowns in one round, surpassing the mark of Amanda Nunes. She held the belt for just over five months, winning Rose Namajunas in May 2019 by technical knockout.
