“Today there is great distrust of the IOC” – head of the IBA Kremlin

President of the International Boxing Association (IBA) Umar Kremlev expressed no confidence in management International Olympic Committee (IOC).

On Friday, the IOC announced it would allow Russian and Belarusian athletes who successfully qualified for the 2024 Olympics to have neutral status as individual athletes.

In June, the IOC, following a vote, announced the derecognition of the IBA. In 2019, the IOC temporarily withdrew the recognition status of the IBA for economic reasons and due to a management crisis within the organization, and also presented demands for reforms. In mid-June, the IBA appealed this decision to the CAS and asked the court to suspend the IOC’s recommendations until the court’s final verdict.

— Today, there is a lot of mistrust towards the IOC. They are not fit for purpose. The fact that they’re trying to get into sports organizations… They’ve created a sort of private club out of the Olympic family. Every country votes here. Why don’t countries vote in the election of the head of the IOC? Where is democracy ? The IOC president must be elected by the countries. We have put order within the IBA, we are developing our sport, helping the boxers. I’m proud of us. Thank you for your support, we will make our sport better and better,” Kremlev said at the IBA congress in Dubai.

The “IBA Champions Night” tournament in Dubai with the participation of Albert Batyrgaziev, Evgeniy Tishchenko, Mark Petrovsky and Muslim Gadzhimagomedov will be broadcast live on the channel. The broadcast begins on December 9 at 10:00 p.m.
