Directed by Roy Jones Jr. The United States Boxing Federation was accepted as a permanent member of the organization at the International Boxing Association (IBA) convention in Dubai.

In June, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) accepted the recommendation of the organization’s executive committee not to return recognition to the IBA because the association had not fulfilled the necessary conditions put forward in December 2021. The IOC Executive Board also recommended to the session “in the interest of athletes and sport” that boxing be kept on the program for the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris in line with previous decisions. At the same time, the world boxing organization was created, which already included a number of countries.

The United States Boxing Federation was formed after USA Boxing left the IBA. The president of the American Boxing Federation is the former absolute light heavyweight champion Roy Jones Jr., a Russian national.

117 IBA members voted for the adoption of the United States Boxing Federation, 18 members were against and seven abstained.

Also at the congress, the Norfolk Island Boxing Association, the Swiss Boxing Federation (SwissBoxing) and the Tuvalu Amateur Boxing Association were accepted as permanent members of the IBA by vote.
