Kuzbass native Dmitry Menshikov finished Mukhsin “Assassin” Chafee in the first round of their lightweight Muay Thai fight at ONE Fight Night 17.
Already at the beginning of the fight, Menshikov quickly knocked down his Spanish-Moroccan opponent, but this only provoked the latter. Chafee started fighting back with knees, fists and elbows. From time to time he threw kicks, pushing Menshikov into the corner.
But the representative of Kuzbass Muay Thai and the Empire club remained icy and focused. He found a gap in Chafee’s defense and took advantage of his opponent’s mistake with lightning speed. As Chafee began to lose control of his emotions, the Russian mercilessly stunned him with a devastating left hook that brought the Lumpeenie Stadium crowd to its feet.
The well-timed knockout, coming at 1:59 of the first frame, improved the 26-year-old fighter’s professional record to 29-2. It also earned Menshikov a US$50,000 bonus and moved him closer to another chance at a rematch against division king Regian Eersil, to whom the Russian lost in his ONE debut last June .
