Russian boxer Albert Batyrgaziev shared his emotions following his victory over Cuban Lazaro Alvarez in the main fight of the IBA Night of Champions tournament in Dubai, noting that he managed to show spectacular boxing.
The lightweight fight lasted all ten rounds and ended with Batyrgaziev winning by unanimous decision. After the fight, it was announced that the Russian had won $300,000 and the Cuban had won $200,000.
“It was a great honor for me to fight for my first championship belt. All this, of course, thanks to IBA President Umar Kremlev. I thank him very much for creating the conditions. I want to thank everyone who was sick and worried. Not physically, but mentally you were there. You can feel everything. I hope I was able to make you happy. We don’t stop there. I look forward to your support for my new victories. I have a lot of respect for my opponent for accepting this fight. He and I showed spectacular boxing, showed the beauty of boxing itself, we tried. I want to say to the young people who look at me: nothing is impossible, the most important thing is to want it. I’m a guy like you. I just wanted to change my situation and I succeeded. Thanks to my team,” Batyrgaziev said on .
Batyrgaziev, 25, won the first ever IBA professional belt in the weight category up to 60 kg.
